How to insert a tab inside a table

I can't seem to insert a tab inside a table - when I hit the tab key, the cursor jumps to the next cell. In Word, you can hit Ctrl - Tab to insert tabs in tables - but in NWP this does not work.

Is it possible to do this?

Thanks - I had used that one for another purpose via Witch (manytricks.com). That's why I hadn't realised this combination.

In that case, hit control-q, then hit tab.

Glad to find this post. I had the same problem. As it turns out Keyboard Maestro had captured my Option-Tab sequence. DIsabled that and now I can tab within a cell. :)
