1. I inserted an end of section and all the endnotes after the end of section were erased.
2. When I paste a passage from a different file the notes in the pasted passage are not numbered continuously. Instead NWP numbers them from 1.

Re: problems with endnotes
1. The notes may be at the end of the document. To get them to the end of Section, switch to Style Sheet view and and under Note Styles:Endnote set 'Place :' to 'End of Section'.
2. To get continuous numbering, switch to Style Sheet view and and under Note Styles:Endnote set 'Number
Restart:' to 'Continuous'.

Re: problems with endnotes
1. This is a bug in NWP. The endnotes were totally erased. The notes numbers were there but the notes were empty.
2. It is continuous!. NWP started a new sequence of note and I cannot make the notes of the pasted passage become a part of the document.

Re: problems with endnotes
Not too long ago, I have experienced a similar problem: all the text of notes was "gone" when something was changed in the format of the notes. It turned out to be a bug of display and not a real disappearance of the text. I think this was in the previous version of NWP, but I don't recall re-checking it afterwards. Try on a copy of the file- to save and re-open the file. For me, then, the text "reappeared" in the notes section.

Re: problems with endnotes
I would bet Ruchama is exactly correct- that your note content still exists, but is merely hidden by a layout/display bug. Try saving a copy of the file to a separate location and reopening it. If you can, it would be nice for us to have a copy of your document and instructions on what you did exactly so we can see about reproducing and fixing the bug.
As for issue #2, check that the notes you pasted in are using the same note style, and change it if necessary. Distinct note styles will never number consecutively, even if they are set for the same restart interval.

Re: problems with endnotes
Thanks everybody,
Issue 1: The word count testifies that the notes are indeed there but I tried everything, including opening the file in WORD and could not reach them. Martin, I am not sure that what happened can be easily reproduced. I clicked "section break" and then Nisus got stuck. I had to force quit and then the notes disappeared. I can send the file if you want.
Issue 2. NWP introduced a new notes style endnotes 1. I deleted it and it did not help.
Thanks. Ruth.

Re: problems with endnotes
Perhaps NW Pro converted note references (exponents) in the original file into custom tnote references. If so, the following procedure will fix them -- try it on a *copy* of your document, not on the original.Ruth Glasner wrote:2. When I paste a passage from a different file the notes in the pasted passage are not numbered continuously. Instead NWP numbers them from 1.
1. Select a note reference in the body;
2. From the Character Style popup menu in the statusbar, apply "Select All" as shown in
http://www2.odn.ne.jp/alt-quinon/temp/CharStyle.png
(all note references of the same kind will be selected)
3. From the Note Style popup menu in the statusbar, apply "Set Custom Note Reference";
http://www2.odn.ne.jp/alt-quinon/temp/NoteStyle.png
4. Enter some character, e.g. "*", in the sheet you'll see appear and hit OK;
http://www2.odn.ne.jp/alt-quinon/temp/CustomNoteRef.png
(all note references will become *)
5. From the Note Style popup menu in the statusbar, apply "Remove Custom Note Reference".
Re: problems with endnotes
Kino, thank you very much.
This is, however, a very inconvenient procedure. I often move long passages or whole chapters from one file to another.
I warmly suggest to change this in the next version of NWP.
I had several more problems with endnotes. Seems that this feature of NWP needs more debugging. R.

Re: problems with endnotes
Me too. But I have never had this kind of oddity. Have you set "On Style Conflict" option in General Pref. to "Use existing styles in the destination document"?Ruth Glasner wrote: This is, however, a very inconvenient procedure. I often move long passages or whole chapters from one file to another.
Re: problems with endnotes
Yes. It is on "use existing styles" and still NPW introduced a new endnotes style.

Re: problems with endnotes
It would be great if we could get a copy of the file(s) necessary to reproduce the problems you've experienced. If you could please send them over to us, with instructions on what to do exactly, using the menu Help > Send Feedback we would really appreciate it. Thanks Ruth.
