When I try to open an Word 2004 .doc file on my G4 iMac (OSX 10.4.11) with Nisus Writer Pro 1.2, the process fails. The Dialog "Adding additional file filters" appears, but stops when the progress bar has gone about 25% of the total. NWP tries this again and again it fails. NWP then shows Dialog saying it was unable to open the file. The crash log shows that the soffice.bin crashed. I assume this is a Nisus program for converting .doc files.

Work-arounds:
1. Open the word .doc file with Word and save it as an .rtf file; then NWP has no difficulty in opening the file.
2. Transfer the word .doc file to my Core 2 Duo MacBook (OS X 10.5.5). NWP has no difficulty opening the file.

Why does NWP fail to convert Word .doc files when running on OS X 10.4.11, but works with 10.5.5?

I'm not sure why our .doc converter crashes on your G4. We've tested the importer to make sure it works on Intel, PPC, 10.4 and 10.5, so it's not a general problem with any of those configurations. We've received your crash report and will look into the issue, thanks.
