Is there a way to password protect a document to prevent someone from opening it? Thanks

This feature is not available in Nisus Writer, sorry.

The best way to do this currently (as of Leopard, I haven't looked at Snow Leopard yet) is to create an encrypted disk image using Disk Utility. You can treat it pretty much like an external volume and use it to store any documents you need protected.
