Is there a way in NWP to set page numbers with increments other than 1 (i.e. 2..)? I was asked this question by someone who is converting from nisus classic and had been using this option with NC..
thanks in advance..

IF YOU were outputting to a fixed format, Ruchama, you could do a rough workaround by using Page Breaks to insert a a blank page every second page. Then output to, say, a PDF, and delete all the blank pages in Preview or PDFpen.

yes. if I were.. The problem is, that this guy is publishing text and its translation, and is putting the two texts in a parallel on two sides of the book. In nisus classic he just used an increment of two, and arranged the pages after printing.
Indeed he needs a page editor for that- but I don't think he would be interested in getting into another software. There are some solutions for this problem, but they are tedious..
he will survive..

We talked about this before, I think, Ruchama. I can think of two pretty straightforward ways to do it. As I suggested, you have the primary language as your primary document and the secondary language as a secondary document. You replace the blanks in the primary document with the corresponding pages from the secondary document -- having first gone through both to make sure the pages fit together. Not a big deal in publishing terms. Alternatively, copy and past the two together in Nisus Writer. Again, no big deal in publishing terms.
In DTP, getting pages right is a big task, often. Match text and illustrations on facing pages is not a lot different from matching text blocks in two languages. I've done this stuff in the past. It just takes a bit of time. There's a limiting point where it is easier to do some stuff "by hand" than to automate it.

yes, thanks. The solution is indeed straightforward. and I agree concerning the comparison with the alternative with DTP . one should always be grateful that we are past the typing machines/printing era.
As I said, my friend will have to adjust..
