Sente scan problem.

I encountered the problem that the multiple language file, containing English and Japanese words, was scanned by Sente, reference management program can exchange the citation tags to correct citation numbers and generate references, resulted in making garbled characters only when the words are italic alphabetical words.
I know this problem is Sente scan program's problem, maybe.
But, the problem is only happened when the file written in Japanese and English. If the file written only in English, there are no problems were happened.
So, I have a question. Is there any differences between English italic words and Multiple language italic words?
In addition, does anyone notice the similarly problems?
Now, I avoid the problem by removing "italic". I'd like to know the information to solve the problem.
