Hi all!

As a Costa Rican user, it's interesting to see how people always confuse us with Puerto Rico. We are not part of the U.S. (riiiiight). (Hehe.)

Anyhow, what's the main difference compared to all the other Spanish one? I'm a linguist/professor/translator, so this is all very interesting to me. Did you do any specific research on regional difference between, say, Spanish from Spain and Costa Rican Spanish?

I love Nisus, even if it's a tad difficult to manipulate images sometimes. I always use it, and it's pretty useful for me because I can easily select the language I want. This is very important for me, so please don't ever take away the nice flags at the bottom.

I hate to quash any interesting ideas your brain might have been conjuring regarding NWP's treatment of Costa Rican Spanish. The option/distinction for this language is entirely technical at this point, eg: there's a separate RTF code for the language, a different ISO identifier, etc. So if the difference isn't important to you in your documents, feel free to ignore the language. If it is, you can go nuts: assign the language a different spelling dictionary, customize the QuickFix corrections, etc.

Ah OK, no problem. I could give you some help in that sense, and even with certain Latin-American regionalisms.

But do change it to Costa Rica on the next update .

Then again, the programme does recognise the differences between US and UK English. So why not have it include the changes from Spanish from Spain or Costa Rica?

What differences do you suggest we recognize? Are you referring to the spelling dictionaries? If so, you should know that we do not produce any spelling dictionaries ourselves. We merely make use of Apple's spelling service, and any dictionaries a user may have installed for OSX. Perhaps there's a dictionary for Costa Rica somewhere out there for OSX, but you'd have to install it yourself.

There aren't many spelling differences as in US vs. UK English, but there're some concerning usage.

e.g.: You shouldn't throw trash on the floor,
Spain: Vosotros no debeis de tirar basura al piso.
CR: Ustedes no deben de tirar basura al piso.
