Spellcheck reverts to US English

A bit baffled here - and I've read the previous discussions on the topic and they don't seem to help.

I use Australian English, settings in preferences are AU, my NWP icon in the bottom right is AU, my Apple keyboard icon is AU, etc.

I'm spellchecking a document using Australian English dictionary, and the whole text is set to Australian English, I've double checked, done a select all and confirmed Australian English for the whole text.

When the spellchecker come to a word that is in my AU dictionary but not in the US English dictionary, the spell checker flags it and reverts to the US English dictionary.

Why?

Thanks.

Iain.

Let's start with a quick sanity check: in your NWP Language preferences, are you sure that you have an Australian English dictionary associated with the Australian language?

I think so...

In the languages panel I have "English (Australia)" selected in the left menu and I have spelling "Australian English" - is that it?

Yes, that sounds like you have everything right Iain. Could you send me an example document and point out which word NWP mistakenly marks? The easiest way to get it to me is via the menu Help > Send Feeback. Thanks!

Of course, it's not doing it any more... :)

I must have added the word to the US dictionary. Do you still want the doc? Is there any way of editing the dictionary to remove the offending word?

Iain.

On Snow Leopard you can edit your spelling dictionaries in TextEdit. The dictionaries are in your Library/Spelling.

Well naturally once someone is looking at the problem directly, it goes away :P The document will no longer be useful, but thanks all the same.
