Hi everyone,

If you are using a Grammar Checker with Nisus Pro could you share your experience?
I'm looking for a good Grammar Checker to help me improve my writing and facilitate my study of the English language (I'm not a native).

I'm using Nisus Pro and Snow Leopard.
Any suggestions and/or advice really appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Can't think of much except switching the little flag at the bottom to British English and downloading Mozilla Firefox with British English :p.

Hello, mabu.

No, NWP doesn’t support Mac’s built-in grammar checker. I think you can use a third-party one, though. Grammarian Pro looks like a good choice. I read a lot of good about it. I guess you can try it before you pay.

Greetings, Henry.

Your post is short, mabu, but it looks as though your grammar is fine.

You might try Grammarian as suggested, but as a person whose first language is English and as a professional writer, I found is very frustrating, not to say outright silly, when I tried it some years ago.

Kind regards

Sure, as Geoff says, grammar checkers sometimes lead to questionable outcomes. I never use one unless I want to have a good time. But I’m growing old and it takes more than a grammar checker to stretch my jaw. To make a long story short, be careful. Grammar checkers as well as linguistic translators can be tricky. Use it with a pinch of salt (cum grano salis).

Bye, Henry.

Thanks for the kind advice.

I already downloaded and tried a few grammar-checker apps.
Yes, they are tricky, especially for a non-naive like myself. But in some instances they detect and instruct me in various useful ways...
Difficult to say which app works best.
I guess the choice will be a bit of a gamble.

Do notice the difference between "naïve" and "native" :p . These are the kind of things a spell checker can't detect hee hee. Your English is pretty good, keep it up!

PS: I think you could learn a lot if you use LiveMocha.
