Issues with working with NWP on a small screen

These are matters that have already been raised, but they are particularly important when you are working on a small screen. Currently, I am touring with the mighty 13" MacBook Pro in the backpack. Every time I take it out and start wrtiting in NWP I run into screen size limitations which exacerbate the interface problesm.

I acknowledge that these are not huge problems (how can anything be a huge problem now we have a vertical ruler?) but they niggle like toast crumbs in bed! :)

DOCUMENT MANAGER -- REDUCE WIDTH

I use the Document Manager all the time -- I think it is an excellent tool to manage and access my frequently used documents -- but it needs to be able to be made narrower.

if I could shrink the width of the document manager to around half its current size, I could have my working document open at 125% -- my preferred viewing size (or 100% with the Tool Drawer open) -- and still have the Document Manager fully visible beside (but behind) it showing the information I need to know at a glance -- the file name.

Sure I can fake that by sliding the right hand side of the Document Manager behind the Dock (which I have pretty small on the right side of the screen) and off the screen, but that is clumsy. All we need is the facility to narrow the Document Manager. We can determine what columns will be shown in it, but when we reduce that to one or two columns we can/t reduce the width of the Document Manager to fit.

SUGGESTED SPELLINGS -- GOING STRAIGHT TO THEM LIKE THE GOOD OLD NWP DAYS AND EVERY OTHER APP

That says all that needs to be said, I think. Going that second step to open the suggested spellings sub-menu isa pain on the big screen; it is a double pain on the small screen when working in unlikely place and using the touch pad instead of the faithful mouse.

Please, Solanoids, any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Now this is curious. I never experienced lying on a toast-crumb beach. But I remember when I was younger than I am now,we (that’s me and my pals) used to lie all day on the beach, some day somewhere. Well, it would make you feel kind of comfortable, all that sand, wouldn’t it? It was pleasant, to say the least. But when you went to bed, and when some, even one, of those sand grains, went to bed with you, then you felt like you were being driven mad. Why? You lay there on seas and seas of sand all day and you felt comfortable, but you couldn’t bear a really small portion of it in your bed.
I think this is what we should be addressing in this silly season.

Kind regards to you, Geoff.
Henry.
