I have a problem: ever since upgrading my NWP to v2 the program crashes almost every time that I try to launch it. Usually re-launching it will then work fine and I have no more problems until the next time that I have to launch the program. However, on a few occasions I have had to launch the program 3 or 4 times before it launches successfully. Once it launches successfully it runs fine with no problems. This happens whether my initial launch is initiated by double-clicking a document or the program icon.

I am running of a MacBook Pro 17" with 4 GB of RAM and plenty of free disk space. The problem happens the same way regardless of whether I have other programs running or not. I have tried re-starting the computer. That seems to make no difference.

Any ideas of what could be causing this, and how to fix it. It is starting to get a little irritating!

I'd start by using an app like Onyx to clean any cruft that's built up in your system and repair your permissions.

If that doesn't solve it, I'd move the preferences file out of the folder in your library and start NWP again — corrupted preferences can have all kinds of weird effects — if that works you're going to have to redo some of your settings, but you'll be home and dry.

If that still doesn't work, I'd come back here and see if somebody who really knows what they're doing has responded.

After you get NWP running, you might send us a report using the menu Help > Send Feedback. That automatically collects recent crash logs, which might help us diagnose the problem for you.

I have the same crash on launch problem. After many tries, got it to launch, but could not open a document or make a new one without a crash, and feedback help window also caused a crash. I have done every step I can think of with permissions, preferences etc.. I have plenty of memory, OSx 10.5.8 and no other problems with any other apps (all of which I have turned off before launching NisusPro 2) Is there a way to uninstall all Nisus files and reinstall NisusPro previous version, which worked fine? I even get a line through old NisusWriter 6.5 icon in apps folder. All my licenses are paid for. May I use one of them to re-download a previous working version?

I'm sorry you're having crashes on startup too Sheila. It may or may not be the same problem as the original poster. Normally I'd ask that you send in a feedback report, but since that's also crashing for you, can I ask that you email me the crash log directly? You can find the crash logs under your home folder in:

~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/

Sure thing. If you want to uninstall the latest version, just move it to your trash. You can download any one of our prior versions.
