My coworkers and I issued a fix here:
Rosetta Issue after Security Update 2012-001.
I make no guarantees for everyone, but hope that it helps those who are experiencing issues. It replaces the ImageIO.Framework with a working copy from a machine from before the Security Update.

I tried the fix but it didn't work for me. Fortunately, I was able to wipe my OS and Apps partition and restore from a back-up I made as recently as Tuesday, so I didn't lose anything significant. Since running Rosetta is a key factor in OS X.6.x, presumably Apple will come up with a fix pretty quickly. They’ll lose a lot of trust if they don't! (We still have strust in them?
)
Cheers, geoff
