I am trying to insert a .jpeg map (1 MB) into a Nisus Pro document (3.6 MB) using copy and paste from Preview. When I do this, the size of my document jumps from 3.6MB to 53.5MB. What gives and how can I accomplish this and keep the document to a reasonable size?

I have been able to find the answer to my own question: Graphics that are imported by clicking on Insert> Image... increase the original size of the file by approximately the size of the image file.

Hello Willy- it sounds like you've come to understand the problem, but I just wanted to add a few points:

1. Inserting an image via copy-paste may produce different results (and file sizes) than using the menu Insert > Image. That's because the image data provided by the clipboard (eg: via pasting) might be different than a file. The file format used on disk is known (just look at the file type/extension), but different applications can provided different kinds of image data to NWP when copy-pasting.

2. When you save an image in a NWP document, we store all the original data, and possibly more (to remain compatible with other RTF applications). We have a forum FAQ that goes into all the gory details.
