Opening files - slow reformatting

I felt in love with Scrivener and I'm searching a word processor to "work" on the RFT output.
Apart from Word, that I know very well, i was checking Nisus and Mellel.

I don't know both very well, but i feel more comfortable with Nisus.

I tried to open a file in RTF (700 pages).
Nisus works with it in a very fast way, no problem.

The only "problem" is when it opens the file.

It goes through a 2 steps way:
- open file (very fast);
- formatting text (very slow).

The "formatting text" moment is normally so slow?
Every time i open file (with so many pages) i have to wait so much time?

Or is there something I don't know how to do?

Tks,
Raffoz

Hello Raffoz: we're glad to hear you're feeling comfortable in Nisus Writer!

It's true that formatting a large number of pages is slower than reading the file (ie: interpreting the RTF). One suggestion that may help: switch to Draft View. The features in Page View (eg: pagination, widow & orphan control, footnotes, etc) can slow down layout calculations.
