Good Morning: I purchased NWP as a replacement for the latest pages upgrade(?), in hopes that it would be able to import and export rather complex MS Word .docx documents. I tried this morning with three contract templates, and the results were distressing. Tables were mangled, text was right-to-left, double strikeout, all headers and footers were gone, as well as sections and TOC, auto numbering, etc. I have to be able to trade and maintain versions of these documents with folks as we negotiate terms. Obviously, while this looks like a very decent product, it will not meet my current needs. (And, in fairness, even MS Word itself doesn't do a very good job, as different versions are not particularly comparable with other versions, which is why I don't bother to use it, either. if it would be helpful, I would be happy to share the templates with you if you would be interested in using them as a "test bed" to improve your ability to import/export, and maybe I will be able to use a future version of the software. In the meantime, I guess that I will continue to use the older version of Pages.

If you could get a file from WORD itself saved as an .rtf file, that might just work. Some things that are not supported by the .rtf standard, though, might be lost. But that seems to be the best way to get a good working file from WORD into NWP. It's worth a try.

I bought NWPro to replace WORD as my textbook writing tool. I have already written much of the textbook, and so wanted to import it into NW to continue. However, couldn't find that subject addressed anywhere in the on-line Manual. Looked at the forums and did find someone having a little of the same problem. He suggested changing the file type to .rtf. I tried this and it does seem to work. I opened WORD, selected a text, pulled down SAVE AS, saved it in that file designation, then in Finder, simply clicked-and-draged the file onto a blank NW page. Works quite well, so far.
