Ah, yes, that explains it. TextEdit does not support footnotes, so there's no way it could show them to you. Likewise with endnotes, styles, cross-references, etc. There are a great many features that TextEdit does not have, but that does not mean that Nisus Writer did not save them in your file.

RTF is Nisus Writer's default/native file format. Anything you make in Nisus Writer can be saved to RTF.

So I can save my NWP-files as Microsoft Word and send this to any PC.

So it wil work outside of the Mac- and Nisus-World.

Thank you.

OK -

but be careful with "any/Lion Auto/Save" when you happen to Open your RTF document/s with TextEdit. You will loose ALL Nisus extras - footnotes, endnotes, styles, cross-references, etc. on Save! Better change in "Finder/File Info" your RTF document/s to "Open with Nisus Writer Pro" - even better "Change ALL" - you know: sh#! happens!

With Lion itself, the problems you were having with ين with some fonts has been resolved.
There are new versions of those Arabic fonts on Lion.

Yes, this was the problem. Thank you.

I think, I do not need Lion for my works. "Don't touch a running system"
