Hi, forgive me if this is an obvious question. I just downloaded and will demo Nisus Pro after many recommendations from colleagues. I love the style of the program although I can tell it will take some getting used to, migrating from MSWord, if I decide to stick with it.
I've encountered a major problem: I am an academic and frequently write papers utilizing many special characters, and I have not been able to find how NWP handles keystroke assignments. Let's say, for example, that one of my fonts contains character X that I would like to type whenever I press ctrl-m. How can I assign that key combo to the character? In MSW this is somewhat cumbersomely done via Insert > Symbol > Shortcut key, but at least it is clear.
I would have thought that a program like NWP that prides itself on multilingual support would make this process clearer for the benefit of novices like me. Or perhaps it isn't even possible to make such assignments? If that's the case I will grudgingly stick with MSW.
thanks very much for any help.
assigning keystroke shortcuts for special characters
Hi -
did customize keyboard layout with SIL's Ukelele - it's easily done. And this personal keyboard can be used for all applications then too:
