Vertical Rule
Vertical Rule
Is there any way to create a vertical rule in NW Pro? I don't see a way to create even the more common horizontal rule, but you can work around this by creating a single (one) box table, & making 3 sides (lines) invisible, then adjust the single remaining horizontal line of the table. It will come out looking like a horizontal rule, but the other (invisible) sides will affect surrounding text. Unfortunately, this procedure does not work with vertical rules, because, as far as I can tell, a table can't be inserted between columns of text.
Re: Vertical Rule
Hi -
for horizontal ruler: Show/Hide Rulers [via View menu or Tooldrawer icon] - the icon shows a vertical, but there's a horizontal only - up to now...

Re: Vertical Rule
@Elbrech, OP means a line, not a ruler.
@wrbtu Where do you want your vertical rule? If it's in the gutter between columns, then when you set the document/section to 2 columns, immediately below is a check box for "Line Between Columns".
If you want it at one of the margins, you could do the same as for horizontal rules using a table, but with only the side of the table cell that you want the line on having it, just as you do with a horizontal rule. Also it seems possible to have a table cell that overflows the page margins and you can adjust the padding, so it should, with some juggling, be possible to create what you want.
But the best way of creating a horizontal rule, is to insert a blank single line paragraph, put a single right tab at the right margin, and set the leader to Underline and from the dropdown choose the type of line you want, then simply enter a tab. You'll have your rule. If you don't want it margin to margin, just set an appropriate indent, or a left tab with no leader at the start point, then a right tab with underline leader at the end point. You can reduce the font size for that single-line paragraph and adjust the before and after spacing so that it sits where you want it to in relation to the previous paragraph and following paragraph.
