Borders?

Post by andreas »

Is there a way of drawing a horizontal line across a page, e.g. after paragraph or a list? Borders only seem to work on Tables and around the *whole* page.

Hello Andreas

No there isn't. Nisus Writer on classic, the first -- and for a long, long time, only -- WP on Mac (or anything else) to have graphics capabilities, has not yet regained that feature in OS X.

The work-around is to load one of the cheap (well reasonably cheap) graphics programs for OS X, draw your lines in that, then paste them into NWPro.

If you use one of the graphics editors which shares LinkBack with NW, you will be able to edit that graphic feature in its original application simply by double clicking on it in NWPro.

Cheers, Geoff

You could, as a workaround, create a single-line table and cancel all borders but a horizontal one, make the spacing minimal and get the line you want.

Is there a chance to get graphics tools back into nisus? is it planned at all?? please..

Or put in a blank line, put a tab at the right margin, double click the tab set it to "right tab" and choose "Underline" as the leader ... you have a range of line formats to choose from. Then simply type a tab character in that paragraph.

That does not underline the tab ared - just text and spaces are being underlined. And I couldn't find any line options. Are you talking about this underline button or is there a more detailed option elsewhere:

I'd like to follow Mark's instruction but I don't know what he means by "leader". I'm on the Germany version and can't find anything that seems to correspond to that.

After placing the leader tab (Führungszeichen), double click on the tab icon in the tab ruler. You will get a dialog which looks like this:

Thanks Hamid, I hadn't realised I could change that style *after* setting the tab.

For goodness sake, yes! Don't worry about the rest of us, Hamid, we'll catch up!

My apologies, Andreas, I meant to add the link to the hidden list. You need to go to the search for Linkback on the Nisus home page, and it will take you to Google and the top entry will be: http://linkback.nisus.com/

And there you will find out all about LinkBack.

I can't udnerstand why it is not promoted on the home page, but I can't se it there.

Cheers, Geoff

Oh, I forgot to mention. Mark and Hamid pointed out the Nisus line for a tab leader. Did someone else suggest using underscores or have the painkillers I took for my twisted ankle had more effect on my head than I think?

Anyway, I once did that. Most embarrassing -- different fonts have different length underscores. What looked like a nice line in one font, changed to a dashed line in another.

But the Nisus lines are proper lines.

Thanks very much. I think either tables or leader tabs will do the job for me.
