Art Directors Toolkit is on MacZot today:

I found it installed in my Mac (with Panther?), and use it any time I need measurement. It's a fantastic tool, much more flexible than the vertical ruler in Word. Worth the full price, a gift discounted.

Thanks for the thoght, Paolo. The ruler is inaccurage on my computer (probably tied to screen rez -- mine is 90 dpi) and I have the other principal tool (for me), the color swatches, covered in another littler app.
