annoying warning message on opening

Since I updated NWP to the most recent version I receive Apple's warning "You're opening a program downloaded from the internet!" every time I open NWP. I have to click "Continue," & then NWP is opened in the background so that I have to find it to open a new file. Is there some way to make my Mac recognize NWP as a trusted program and open normally?

This is a Finder issue, and I'm not sure how you would fix it. However, the first thing I'd try is deleting your current copy of NWP and then downloading a fresh copy.
