Sente scan problem.

Post by tomoyuki-kosaka »

I encountered the problem that the multiple language file, containing English and Japanese words, was scanned by Sente, reference management program can exchange the citation tags to correct citation numbers and generate references, resulted in making garbled characters only when the words are italic alphabetical words.
I know this problem is Sente scan program's problem, maybe.
But, the problem is only happened when the file written in Japanese and English. If the file written only in English, there are no problems were happened.

So, I have a question. Is there any differences between English italic words and Multiple language italic words?
In addition, does anyone notice the similarly problems?

Now, I avoid the problem by removing "italic". I'd like to know the information to solve the problem.

This does indeed sound like a bug in Sente. One thing to try: change the font you are using for your Japanese text. You might be best off applying a font that doesn't naturally contain Japanese characters (eg: switch Hiragino to Times New Roman). This will force Nisus Writer to save your Japanese text using full Unicode "\u" RTF controls (instead of using a Japanese text encoding as specified by the font). This might help Sente import your text properly.

Thank you, martin. Your reply is very very helpful.

I tried the way you previously taught me, the problem is avoidable, adding I changed the language of file from Japanese to English.

I hope the staff of sente will solve this problem, but long time there are no communication with me....
I love the NWP and sente to using for my scientific manuscript writing.
I hope this topic will help the other one encountered similar problem.
