Inserting footnotes in Tables

I can't seem to find a way to insert footnotes in tables. Can anyone offer any advice?

When I place the cursor in any cell in a table, the footnote option is grayed out. I tried the same in the most recent version of Word for the Mac. Footnotes in tables work just fine.

Is it simply not a feature? Or am I doing something wrong?

Please be so kind as to inform us about the time it will take to make it possible to insert footnotes in tables. For me it is very difficult not to be able to insert them.

This feature is indeed still not available and I couldn't say when it might be added. Sorry to not have better news.
