I use the Document Manager all the time, so I have NWP set to show it at launch, but there seems to be no way for me to set it up to show what I want it to show at launch.
It comes up at the size and in the position it was when I was last using NWP, but it always shows the left column and the bottom box.
On 99 out of 100 days, I need only the documents window showing the contents of “All Managed”. On the 100th day, I need the left-hand column to select what I am looking for. I never need the box at the bottom -- in fact, I haven’t noticed its function before I tested it just now.
Yet I am forced to have both these parts of the Doc Manager open when I launch regardless of whether I want them or use them.
It is possible to close those parts of the Doc Man window by dragging the internal margins. Would it be possible to make such drags stick so that the Doc Man opened showing only what I want it to show -- the documents window?
And while you are at it, how about allowing the Doc Man window to be much narrower? I have it at its narrowest -- it would do everything I want it to do at a third to a half of that width with the left-hand column closed.
Cheers, Geoff

How about putting the Document Manager in the Toolbar?

Re: Document Manager size and behavior
Thanks forf the thought, Hamid.
I don't use the toolbar -- it's wastes space on the page. I have my page set to 125% for easy reading, so I need all the vertical space I can get.
Cheers, Geoff

I enjoyed your homebrew happy/sad-face graphic
The size of the split panes should be remembered across restarts, and I'll file that as a bug, thanks! I'll see about decreasing the minimum size of the window as well.

Re: Document Manager size and behavior
On the chance that NWP 2.0 might include this fix:
How about making it possible to narrow the width of the DM window, beyond the current limit?
The minimum width of the window is more than 1/3 of the width of my 15" screen. I'd like to be able to have the DM open beside the main window, but there just isn't enough room.
I'd prefer to have this window be no more than 2" wide, at least sometimes and perhaps most of the time. That would still allow reading the document title.
Edit: Well I see the reason for this minimum width must be that any narrower and the control buttons at bottom disappear offscreen. So I have a bad way to satisfy my illegitimate desire: just slide the DM window half offscreen. This leaves room for everything I need and I can open files by double-clicking on them in the DM. My guess is I'm the only one who would want such a silly setup.

Re: Document Manager size and behavior
The bug where the Document Manager's splitter size is not remembered has been fixed in version 2.
As to the size of that window: it should let you resize it to be as small as the bottom row of buttons. Perhaps that's still wider than you'd like.
