Copy all + table glitch

Post by Jester »

Hej!

I noticed that when I do a CTRL + OPT + CMD + A (is it called "Copy All"?) and if I have a table in the document and then paste everything in a new doc, the table is copied twice. Very weird, I know.

That keyboard shortcut is the default for the command "Select All Document", which selects every document area (eg: footnotes, headers, tables, etc). It's more complete that a regular "Select All", which merely selects all text within the single active document area. The "Select All Document" command is generally to be used when you want to format/process all document areas at once.

That's because the table is sort of selected twice, once in the outer main document body that encloses the table, and then again directly as a separate text area. The distinction is esoteric and probably doesn't serve any useful purpose. I believe it's filed as something we should change, but in the meantime, if you want to copy all of your document, just using "Select All" in the main document body will be sufficient.
