The "gear" menu

On my system I do not see the "gear" icon where it is supposed to be. Therefore, I can't use any on the functions attributed to said menu. Attached is a screen shot of what I see. I am using a Mac with OS 10.6.7. Thanks for any help.

The "gear" menu in question is on the "Fonts panel", that opens from "Show Fonts" on the "Format" menu or when you press Ctrl-T, not on the "Character Palette".

Thank you very much. Problem solved. I guess I just didn't pick up on that somewhere. Now I can change some things to make my tasks easier.
