In this situation described above I think that a new installation of NWP from my disc will help. But I am not sure.

In this case: how can I save my documents or: do I need to save them prior to a new installation?

Did you set the find mode to PowerFind Pro? In the German localization, this option is labelled "Art". Also, did you type the find/replace expressions exactly as you see in the screenshot I took?

No, there is nothing wrong with your NWP. The problem is triggered by the specific characters in your file.

Since you're having trouble following the instructions for Find & Replace, I can attach a macro here that strips the errant characters from your file. You'll want to install the following macro:
Strip Errant Arabic Combining Marks.nwm.zip
(3.31 KiB) Downloaded 359 times
Once that's installed, relaunch NWP, open you problematic file, and then run the macro. It should tell you it replaced a few bad characters.

But, I'm worried that the macro instructions might overwhelm you, so I think I'll fix your file and send you the corrected copy to your email directly.

where is this "Art."? I open: "Edit" (Bearbeiten) and then Find/Replace but this step does not open the window you have sent.
I can not type the expressions, because I have not the window Find/replace (Suchen und Ersetzen) So I can not change there PowerFind Pro.

I always have specific characters in my documents - without any problems until now.

Now I will download "Stripp Errant...." and will install it.

Thanks for the file I will look at it now.

Strip Arrant...now appears in the Macro Folder with the icon von NWR as if it was a Nisus-document. Is it OK?

In my origin file on page 4 I still can not correct to passage into italics. The rest of the text disappears.

But it works in the file you have sent. What about my other files?

This is what the German Find & Replace window looks like on my computer:

You can see "Art" near the top, on the right side. In the screenshot you can see it is set to "PowerFind Pro (regex)".
I always have specific characters in my documents - without any problems until now.
The problem isn't the characters itself. There is no problem in combining the Arabic Damma (U+064F) mark with normal letters. The crash was triggered only because both:
1. The damma mark was combined with a newline character (probably you typed this by accident, because it doesn't make much sense).
2. That newline and damma mark combination had the Times font applied, which requires font substitution (because the Times font can't show a damma mark).

Both of those things are required to trigger the crash.

It sounds like you installed the macro, but did not run it. You will want to:

1. Relaunch NWP.
2. Open the problem file.
3. Run the macro (choose it from the Macros menu).

You should receive a message that some number of replacements have been made.
but the Find/Replace window does not appear in your file! I can not open it.
Once the problem occurs (eg: the text and/or insertion point disappears in your troublesome file), you will need to relaunch NWP. That's because NWP is no longer stable after the problem occurs, and normal things (like opening the Find & Replace window) may not behave properly.

Strip Arrants...works now and a have the message that 2 things have been removed.

But after relaunching Nisus and after Restart of the Mac the find/replace window still does not appear. Only the nois is coming... Not with this document and not with the others I have.

Now I can open the window find/Replace, if I use apple+ F ! I tried to open the window some lines below that where it is written: find/replace. It did not work of course.

I wrote everything in that window but it did not replaced anything, because the file has been corrected in the meantime.

Thank you for your help - and first of all for your patience with my ignorance.

Best
