Footnote ruler page view jumps offscreen

Post by stevenrowat »

Hi,
I believe this is a bug and it's quite irritating; I'm hoping you can help:

I have footnotes, and I'm adjusting the tab stops in them using the ruler at the top of the screen. Often what happens is that as soon as I let go of the tab stop (after adjusting it) the Page View screen view scrolls (jumps) so that my footnotes are no longer visible and I have to scroll around to find them.

In the example of this I'm working with right now, the page view jumps a full 18 pages to the very end of the section (chapter) I'm working in, so that I can now see the footnotes at the end of that last page. (Which, of course, is no help at all).

It appears that there's a bug in the identification of which page of the footnotes my cursor is in, and apparently Nisus is attempting to be helpful by moving this page onscreen. Only it's the wrong page.

This is a recurring problem for me in a long document, because my setup is requiring me to adjust the tab stops in the footnotes on many pages, some at the beginning and some at the end of sections. And often Nisus can't seem to find which page I'm working on and projects me merrily somewhere else.

I have encountered this bug.
In my case the cursor jumps to the beginning of the first footnote in the document.
I get back to the place where I was by pressing ⌘[ (Edit:Select:Previous Selection).

process error; please ignore this (pretend we're allowed to delete). ;-)

Thank you Hamid. I had discovered the 'back' button did this (which allowed me to finish my edits), but couldn't find a key combination for it. It should be relatively painless from now on with the command key -- although, in the case of dragging tabs, it would be very nice to actually see the movement rather than bounding away from it and then back when it's done.

IMO this is something Nisus ought to fix right away. But of course, there probably aren't a lot of people who drag tabs in their footnotes. :-) .

You can also use the Enter key (not the Return key), which performs the command Edit > Select > Flash Selection.

Probably not, but the unwanted scrolling is rather annoying I'm sure. We'll take a look and see what we can do, thanks.
