Make footnote markers (ref in text) not have gray background

Post by NisusUser »

Is there a way to make the footnote markers (i.e., the note number in the main text) so they don't have any highlight applied to them when viewing on screen? I thought I saw something about this on the forum, but I can't find anything.

We've definitely talked about it on the forum before, to the point that it should probably have a FAQ by now (I'll see about adding that).

Here's what to do:
1. Open your NWP preferences.
2. Switch to the "Appearance" pane.
3. At the bottom you'll see a table/browser that lists customizable colors.
4. Select the option path: Automatic Text > Note References.
5. In the color selection area, checkmark "hide this highlighting".

Let me know if you have any questions.

We've added this as an official FAQ entry, thanks!
