Losing headers after editing file on Android

Post by hefolsom »

Hi there. Hoping someone has an idea for solving this:

I'm using Nisus Pro on a Mac. I've got some Nisus-created files stored in Dropbox that I'd like to be able to edit on an Android phone/tablet.

However, if I:

1. Edit the file with Nisus; save it to Dropbox
2. Open it on Android & edit using OfficeSuite Pro; save it to Dropbox
3. Reopen it in Nisus

All the headers disappear! That is, the text formatting looks correct, but the fact of things being headers no longer works, and the header navigation panel is empty.

I've tried this with both saving in .rtf & .doc & the same issue happens either way.

Any ideas?

I'm open to switching Android apps, or using something other than Dropbox, or …?

Hello! When you say headers, do you really mean marking paragraphs for inclusion in the Table of Contents? Headers and footers are the special areas at the top and bottom of every page. You talked about the navigator pane, so I assume TOC markings are what's really being lost.

I've never tried OfficeSuite Pro, but it sounds like it doesn't support TOC markings. Is there any way to create a TOC in this Android app? Typically applications only provide fidelity for features they actually implement. If this app doesn't support TOCs, it's very likely to remove your TOC markings from files it touches. Perhaps there are other Android editing apps that would do a better job. Your use of DropBox should not be a problem here.

Oh - yes, thanks. I did mean headers for table of contents.

And that explanation makes sense. Will aim for a different Android editor.

Thanks for the info!
