Color not showing

I have a word that requires one letter to be red:

redframer

Applying this in all the ways I know. 2/3s of the time it works. The rest of the time there seems to be no way to get the red color to stick.

Search and replace doesn't do the job either.

Assuming that I'm not misunderstanding you, this should be a fairly easy thing to do. Just make sure that "Replace Attributes" is enabled.
