Heading 1, 2, 3 as in Microsoft Word?

Post by canuckabroad »

Originally purchased NWP so I could use features like Track Changes and Line Numbering, so the feature I'm trying to achieve now is beyond the original scope of why I bought the program, to be fair.

However, I am doing editing work for someone who wants formatting to work between headings within the document (Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, etc. as in Microsoft Word) and the Table of Contents. This is necessary because he is formatting a book for Kindle.

However, when I imported it into NWP, I seem to have removed all this formatting, and he is not too happy with me at the moment. I have tried to find a similar feature in NWP, but I'm coming up empty. Is it there, and I just don't know what to look for?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Check your import settings in NWP Preferences>Advanced.
They should be set at 'LibreOffice (more complete)' to get the best results when importing .doc, .docx, and .odt files.

As Hamid says, I don't see why all of this was removed during import.

But to your other question, Nisus can certainly handle numbered headings which are included in TOC. I believe the standard default style in Nisus has Headings (about 6 Levels) which are set to be included in the TOC. If you want them to be numbered you can include a number list style as part of the heading style definition.
