Lists/Outlines & Format Conversions
Lists/Outlines & Format Conversions
I love Nisus' interface and prefer to use it but have a problem with lists/outlines when I open it with Word. Why does my Nisus outline numerics become "dingbats"? (See Attached pics) This is problematic when sharing documents with colleagues.

Re: Lists/Outlines & Format Conversions
Just from the look of it; it seems your list has one level where you specify a bullet with a dingbat font, while the other levels have no font specification. Presumably Word (or the ex/importer?) transfers this font specification to all list levels. Perhaps you could specify a font on the other list levels as well?

Could you please share an example document with us? You could attach one here, or send it via the menu Help > Send Feedback. Thank you.
Re: Lists/Outlines & Format Conversions
Actually there is one more thing about this. This looks like a dingbat font which reassigns basic ASCII codes to dingbats. I thought that in the age of Unicode we didn't do things like that anymore. So perhaps this is a font you should avoid, and use a proper Unicode compatible font.

Re: Lists/Outlines & Format Conversions
Thanks Phillip, Your initial suggestion resolved my problem. All of the list levels were associated with Zapf Dingbats and converted to such by Word. I changed the association to the Calibri font for all levels except the one with a dingbat bullet point. Everything exported nicely. Not sure about your 2nd suggestion... that one was a little deeper into fonts than I can comprehend. Guess I need to read up on Unicode versus ASCII
Martin, I've attached a "Test" doc here per your request. Thank you for always "being there" for users.

Re: Lists/Outlines & Format Conversions
Thanks for posting the example file. I took a look at it in both NWP and Word, using both the Zapf and Calibri fonts, but in all cases the little cross symbols displayed correctly. So I'm not sure what problem you might have encountered. I tested in Word 2011– perhaps you have another version of Word?
Well, I'm just glad you have things sorted out for yourself.
