I have tried to export from NWP (latest version) to .docx but without any success. It work some years ago, but now when I tried it didn't work at all. The only thing I'll get is a error message »The document "Svensk_vardekonservatism" could not be exported as "Svensk vardekonservatism”.»
I have sent a support request, but it will probably take some time, so therefore I reach out to the User Forum to see if I am the only one having these problems with exportring NWP files to .docx or not.
I do have LibreOffice (latest version) installed as well on my computer, but that shouldn't make any difference, or should it? I mean since NWP are using LibreOffice as a part of the decoding from .rtf to .docx.

Re: NWP will not export to .docx
G'day, Peter et al
I always use the latest version of NWP. Currently I run it on Ventura. Exporting to docx seems to work OK, but I don't have access to Word, so I can't check what the result looks like there; it opens in Pages, though.
I'm not sure how much this helps, as you may be using a newer operating system.
For the benefit of others, note that the File Format options in the Save and Export dialog boxes differ from one another.
Cheers,
Adrian

Re: NWP will not export to .docx
I'm using the latest version of macOS, Sequoia, and according to what is stated at https://nisus.com/pro/versions.php NWP seems to be fully compatible only with the following versions of macOS: OSX 10.13 - 10.15, macOS Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma. The Sequoia is not mentioned at all.
Maybe this is the cause of the problems with exporting to the .docx format?
I do not have any copy of Word on my MBP (left MS Office already more than 20 years ago and moved to Mellel and NWP).
So I will probably have to continue to use Mellel (or in some cases Pages) instead of NWP, especially when I know I have to send files in the .docx format.

Re: NWP will not export to .docx
I've just tried… M2Pro, Sequoia 15.3.2, NWP 3.4.1. No problem here exporting to DOCX, I exported three files, two one page ones, one of four pages including a lot of comments. They all exported perfectly and opened in Pages with no problems.
I too have not had Word since Microsoft replaced the excellent 5.1a with the ghastly 6.

Re: NWP will not export to .docx
Could the LibreOffice (version 25.2.1.2) installed interfere with the exporting from NWP since it's using exporters from LibreOffice?

Re: NWP will not export to .docx
I deleted the LibreOffice completely and restarted my MBP, and voila the export of files from NWP to the .docx format works like a charm! So it must have been the LibreOffice that prevented me from exporting to the .docx format.

Re: NWP will not export to .docx
I have LibreOffice installed (currently 25.2.03), but I have rarely opened it and haven't opened it for some time… and I very rarely export to DOCX. So whether it was interfering for you, I can't say.
But I'm glad you're able to export now.

Boy, that dates you, Mark.
I was in the same boat. Nisus has been a great product with great support and capable of handling Japanese/Chinese before anything else. Would be sad to see its demise.

When MacOS X was launched, I found Mellel as a word processor… quirky, but I was getting my head round it. But back then, it had one problem for me: it couldn't import Microsoft .DOCs in Chinese, so I had to open them in TextEdit, save them as RTF and then open that in Mellel. Long before they solved that, Nisus Writer was launched and I've never used any other word processor except under duress (Scrivener is not a "word processor" to me!). And I managed to get my colleagues, collaborators and friends to accept that their copy of Word could open .RTFs with no problem.
