shifting text right or left
shifting text right or left
In NWE 4.4.1, is there a way to shift text right or left? I have a long list of items, each with a dollar number at the right, after a Tab. To make the numbers line up right I need to shift the numbers 2 spaces to the right. I can't seem to find a way to do that for groups of lines. Any suggestions?

If I understand your question correctly, you need to use a right Tab.
With your document open, view it in Page View (not Draft View or Style Sheet). Then make sure you can see the horizontal Ruler at the top (View > Rulers > Show Rulers).
Position the Insertion Point in a line you wish to format, between the initial text of the list item and the dollar number. Then hit the Tab key on your keyboard. Do this with each such line. It is good practice to have no spaces either side of the Tab character.
With the Insertion Point positioned anywhere in one of those lines, click somewhere above the horizontal Ruler (in the area just below the Toolbar). A Tab marker (some sort of arrow) will appear there. Double-click on the marker to reveal the Edit Tab dialog box. Choose Kind:Right and click the OK button.
Now drag the (left-pointing) arrow marker along the Ruler until the dollar number appears where you want it.
With the Insertion Point still positioned somewhere in that line, choose Edit > Copy > Copy Paragraph Formatting. Select all the other lines you wish to be formatted similarly and choose Edit > Paste > Paste Paragraph Formatting. All the dollar numbers should now be right-justified. If need be, fine-tune the text positioning by dragging the Tab marker in the Ruler.
There are other ways of going about this, but this should get you on the right track.

Adrian
