Searching by characteristic in Nisus Express

Post by tarakananda »

Friends,

Does anyone know how to search for words by characteristic? For instance, how would I search for words which are formatted bold? or italic? I want to find the words (or phrases) on a one by one basis, as they occur, which have such specific formatting. To clarify further, I am not searching for specific words, but any word or phrase which has the desired formatting.

Any ideas?

I'm sorry to say that there is no generalized way to perform this kind of search yet. However, depending on your needs there may be a way for you to accomplish your goals using our "tags".

Tags are the small icons that appear in the bottom right of each document window frame. If you click on a tag a list of menu options will appear. If the tag is a formatting tag (eg: font, style) one option will be Select All. This will select all text in the document that matches the attribute of the tag of the currently selected text. An example may help:

1. Place the caret in some text that has the Emphatic character style applied.
2. Use the Select All menu from the character style tag (the one with the blue boxed "a" icon).
3. All text in your document with the Emphatic character style applied should now be selected.
