Soft hyphenation

Post by steintal »

I'am not sure, if the soft hyphenation feature is implemented or not in NWE 2.7?

I'm afraid it's not - at least if I read the release notes correctly. You might want to check for yourself: http://www.nisus.com/Express/releasenotes.php.
Besides, I'm happy that the feature seems to be an issue for other users as well and not just my pet problem. Since I'm writing in German, Apple's built-in hyphenation routines sometimes do weird things to German hyphenation.

I'm writing in German too. It seems as if we have the same problem. I do not known a lot about programming, but I think it shouldn't be very difficult to add that feature ...

One should assume as much but the issue seems to be somehow more complicated...
How the Nisus people put it (if I got it right), the problem seems to be that the hyphenation rules are not provided by Nisus but by the MacOS itself, i.e. by Apple, and therefore the ball lies on Apple's turf. As for the idea of adding a feature along the lines of "Override Hyphenation" or "Insert Hyphen manually", I've submitted such a feature request some time ago.
Let's hope for 3.x...
