Hi all,
I'm new here, so if my question is asked often, apologies...
I just migrated back to Mac from PC. I went out of my way to have no Microsoft stuff. I'm really happy with NWE, especially compared to Openoffice on PC and Neo Office for Mac.
But...! I can't work out if I can over-ride RTF as the preferred saving option for new docs. I may not like MS Word, but my work obliges me to use it for stuff we share among each other ( I know that RTF is very interchangeable, but you don't know the people I work with)
Is it possible to change or over-ride the preferred option? Would a new basic template be the answer?
Any opinions or experience is welcome.
Cheers
Gerry, Dublin.
Preferred Format for Saving files

Gerry,
Actually, even when you save a NWX file in "Microsoft Word Format" using NWX it actually creates a regular rtf file! NWX just puts .doc in as the filetype instead of .rtf, it doesn't create an actual MS Word binary format file like some/most other word-processors do. This is fine with Word, it regards rtf files wrapped up as .doc files as legal, but it's not what most people expect when they save something as "Word" format.

And thanks for that info - I may just take the leap and start sending RTF and see how they go down in my big bad world.
Still getting used to NWX (to the point that I was shorthanding it NWE!) and having problems with tables, but that's another post!
Thanks again for quick and friendly feedback
