Can't paste formatted text

Post by tommel »

I've got a weird problem: when I try to paste formatted text (i.e. normal paste, command+v) in Nisus Writer Pro 1.2, nothing happens. I have tried (1) choosing Paste in the Edit menu (nothing happens), (2) choosing Paste in the contextual menu (nothing happens) and (3) typing command+v (nothing happens, except that the Edit menu is highlighted). Does anyone have a clue what is going on? I didn't have problems with the trial version of NWP 1.1. Paste Text Only (command+shift+v) works fine.
Perhaps related to this problem is the fact that when I type command+w to close a window, the File menu is highlighted - but the window remains open and I can't even close it by clicking in the close box (when I have not typed command+w, I can close windows by clicking in the close box).
I have reinstalled NWP 1.2 with no effect.
Best,
Thomas

It's certainly weird that it fails using the menu directly too, it's not just the keyboard shortcut being overridden.

Is this only happening with NWP or is TextEdit affected too? (Try TextEdit with both plain text and rtf documents.) Other apps? (Particularly Coca apps like Pages, Safari etc.) If copy and paste within TextEdit works try doing a copy from NWP and pasting it into TextEdit and copying from TextEdit and pasting into NWP.

Are you perhaps using a clipboard manager/utility like PTHPasteboard or something? If so try disabling/uninstalling it and see if the problem continues.

What localization of NWP are you running Thomas? There's a problem with the Danish translation that causes exactly the effects you describe. You can switch just NWP to another translation by doing a "Get Info" in the Finder and unchecking the Danish option.

Martin, you are right! I was using the Danish localisation. I switched Danish off now like you said and it works (both Paste and command+w)! Thanks a lot - my texts contain quite a lot of formatting and the problem was driving me crazy.
dshan, thank you for your input. I was thinking along the same lines myself, but apparently the problem was more specific.
Cheers,
Thomas
