Spell check not (fully) working after SL upgrade

Post by poyo »

Recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. Spell check was working normally prior to the upgrade. Now, the spell check window in the "Languages" tab works properly, and check spelling as you type correctly identifies misspelled words. The problem is that right-clicking a misspelled word does not show the suggestions in the contextual menu.

I have verified that the suggestions are working properly in both TextEdit and in Mail. Tried deleting NWP prefs, but that did no good. Ditto on a permissions repair. Any ideas?

This is a problem that's been reported to us after 10.6's release and we're working on a fix. We should have an updated beta of NWP 1.3.1 sometime soon.

This problem should be fixed in NWP 1.3.1 beta two. There are some other fixes as well. Let us know if you discover any other problems, thanks!

It's remarkable the extent to which I'm missing the context menu spell corrections. By which I suppose I mean that this glitch reveals just how bad my spelling is.

Can anyone tell me how stable is the beta, and whether it's worth using it at the moment, or whether I should wait for the proper release and maybe just try to remember how to spell licence? and foliage?

Well, it is still officially a beta, but I would say it's quite stable. We haven't made many changes since NWP 1.3, and so far there haven't been many new bugs reported to us. Also, the latest (beta 3) hopefully fixes all the Snow Leopard spellchecking bugs.
