Text blocks in the margin [Answered]

Post by bjelkeman »

How do I create blocks of text in the margin of a document? Say I have a wide right hand margin, where I want to place graphics or blocks of text (like highlights from the text). It should behave like an image which has been placed in the margin, anchored to the text.

Couldn't find an answer in the manual or on the forums, so I had to ask.
Thanks!

In many word processors, you would use text boxes for that; unfortunately, Nisus Writer Pro does not have this feature. You could simply create a table with two columns, placing your main text in the left column and the additional text in the right one. This might be fine for the occasional paragraph, but if it needs to be repeated more than just a couple of times, it may not be the perfect solution. Perhaps you have access to a graph application, such as OmniGraffle; in this case, you could create your text boxes in there, and then simply paste them into your Nisus document. You can then have them float in the margin like regular images.

Sorry; there's no easy workaround here.
