Very usefully NWP developers provided us an I-Beam in different sizes (very usefully, expecially if you prefer to zoom your text to cover Full Screen on the monitor).
Very usefully too they offered also the chance to set a blinking and coloured I-Beam.
I did set easily my red - RED - I-Beam in Page View, but up to now I could not get the same affect in Draft View (it appears always black).
Can anybody help me?
I am using OS 10.7 - NWP 2.0.1
Thanks
Blinking coloured I-Beam also in Draft View
Re: Blinking coloured I-Beam also in Draft View
As i'm now discovering, in Draft View not only the blinking I-Beam, but also all coloured text does appear in black. However if you pointed on a text, which is supposed you have set coloured, a coloured wheel appears on the bottom bar, a black (a) hooped in colour.
Re: Blinking coloured I-Beam also in Draft View
Colored text in draft view definitely does appear colored in draft view. (Full screen is a different matter.) But I also just checked the (blinking) cursor. You are right the cursor color is not carried over to draft view. That must be a bug. You should report it.

OK, Philip, my English is bad. Saying Full Screen i meant really Draft View. However I must confirm, not only the (blinking) cursor, but also any colored text are NOT carried over to Draft View, either you use a paragraph style set with colour or you simply try to colour the text (a word). Both is OK in Page View.
They must be two bugs.

Re: Blinking coloured I-Beam also in Draft View
There are a couple of things to explain here. First, just to be clear, I'll be referring to the blinking insertion point as the "caret", which is also how it's named in the NWP preferences. The color of the caret can only be configured for Full Screen†. The caret is always black in Draft View and Page View.
Faux text and background coloring (those colors set in the appearance preferences) can be set for Draft View or Full Screen†, but not Page View. Also, you must choose colors for both the "Draft text" and "Full Screen text" settings- they are independent.
† Explainer for Full Screen colors: before Lion (OSX 10.7), we had our own Full Screen mode. It was a lot like Draft View, but did not allow using tools, and was completely separate. When you entered this Full Screen mode on Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6) or earlier, your Full Screen appearance colors were always respected. Now, if you are running NWP 2.0.1 on Lion, you can use any document view (eg: Page View) in Full Screen mode. The only time your Full Screen appearance colors are respected while using Lion's Full Screen mode is if you switch to Draft View. So really those appearance preferences might be changed from "Full Screen caret" color to "Draft View in Lion Full Screen caret" color.
Probably that's pretty confusing. Perhaps when running on Lion, we should remove the Full Screen color preferences, and instead just allow the user to choose the Draft View caret color.

I didn’t understand well everything (but surely because of my poor English).
Maybe I can be clearer, if I say what I miss in Draft View and still like to have.
I would like, if possible, to have preserved visible in color in Draft View not only a red (or what color) caret, but also that colored text I have set before in Page View or want to set at the moment (a paragraph title for instance).
Deeper into the question. I know very well what are those colored lines delimiting, in Page View, text columns or header spaces, and understand why they are logically visible in Page View only, and not in Draft View.
But why is it possible to preserve “colored” - in Draft View - space and paragraph signs (for paragraph signs I mean “¶”) and not the caret, which is for me much more useful?
An other point. As far I understand there are only two view mode: Page View and Draft View. In know what is Full Screen as feature in Lion, but I wouldn’t call it a third view mode, since it is suitable for both Page View and Draft View. In this sense what you can read on page 9 of NW Help - «Page View as a continuous scroll, and Draft View (or Full Screen, in which the window covers everything on the monitor)» - sounds a little bit confusing.
Anyway what you type - «The caret is always black in Draft View and Page View» - does NOT match for me. In Page View I can set and have visible preserved a colored caret.
Same: you can keep colored text in Page View, but not in Draft View. In this case Full Screen doesn’t affect the feature completely. Strange enough, in Full Screen for Draft View you can preserve visible the colored caret, but not a colored text. To preserve visible a colored text, you have to set Full Screen for Page View.
Or didn’t I understand correctly what is Draft View and Page View?
I am sorry that I can’t go deeper into the question because my lacking English doesn’t make me sure to have express what I really meant. So I stop here.
In sum: for efficient working, which is the reason why NWP is still preferable to other TPs (not forgotten the powerful macros), I recommend to preserve visible - in selective colors - caret (|), paragraph sign (¶), tab sign ( ), space signs, and whatever as before - also in Draft View (whenever you choose Full Screen or not).
Thanks

Re: Blinking coloured I-Beam also in Draft View
I can understand this- there isn't any reason to disallow changing the caret color in Draft View. I'll file that as an enhancement request, thanks.lellius wrote:But why is it possible to preserve “colored” - in Draft View - space and paragraph signs (for paragraph signs I mean “¶”) and not the caret, which is for me much more useful?
For Lion you're right, Full Screen isn't a separate view anymore- but that's only for Lion. When running NWP on Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6) Full Screen is a totally separate document view. It is confusing, sorry for that.In know what is Full Screen as feature in Lion, but I wouldn’t call it a third view mode, since it is suitable for both Page View and Draft View. In this sense what you can read on page 9 of NW Help - «Page View as a continuous scroll, and Draft View (or Full Screen, in which the window covers everything on the monitor)» - sounds a little bit confusing.
You're right, I forgot that one could change the caret color under "Selection", sorry. I was looking in "Document Views" and didn't see it. Maybe we can improve the categorization of these colors.Anyway what you type - «The caret is always black in Draft View and Page View» - does NOT match for me. In Page View I can set and have visible preserved a colored caret.
Ah, I see the problem now. It looks like the faux text coloring you have set in the preferences will override any actual coloring/formatting applied to your document text. I'll file that as a bug, thanks.Same: you can keep colored text in Page View, but not in Draft View
Thanks for your feedback lellius.
