htaccess is a .txt file with no formatting which I edit and upload to my website.
Is there a way to open this file with the tool drawer closed? I believe I will never want any formatting on this file!

I think you can set this somehow in the Preferences -> New File -> Advanced -> Plain Text Template.

Saving the Plain Text template with tool-drawer closed seems to have worked. Opening htaccess on my computer now opens with tool-drawer closed as well.

Yes, thanks for that tip Dick.
In addition to the drawer settings, one can also customize the font and all other aspects of the Plain Text Template, which are taken into account whenever NWP opens any plain text file.
