Unresponsive floating text box - how to resolve?

Post by whitetornado »

Hello,

Since Nisus does not allow columns (right?), I am trying to put small notes in the margin by placing a number of floating text boxes (Floating Shape > Text Box).

I blurred the text because it doesn't matter. As you can see, there are three floating text boxes in the right margin. But the top two are not responding! I cannot select them, let alone edit (or delete).

They also show up when I render a PDF of the document:

But sometimes, when I scroll a bit in my document, they disappear:

Please help! I need to edit them, or at least be able to delete them!

Is there a different solution I could go for, to have little comments in the margin?

Floating contents can go loco every now and then. For a start, try the macro that I provided here http://www.nisus.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=5289 just to make sure that the floating contents exists properly. If the textbox is there, but doesn't show properly, consider sending the document to Nisus, and have them take a look at.

Hello– I'm sorry you've had trouble with your floating text boxes. They should always be editable / movable, even in the margin. Could you possibly share you document with us so we can have a look at what the problem might be?

Nisus Writer Pro (NWP) does allow columns, but only snaking columns (eg: the bottom of column one flows to the top of column two). We do not have support for parallel columns that run side-by-side.

Hello,

Sorry for getting back so late - didn't get an email notification of any replies and some other things got in the way of keeping a close eye on this topic. Thank you very much for both your responses! I will look into the macro and would be happy to share the document, though I'd rather not have it publicly available on the web. It is over 200kb so I cannot attach it anyway to the thread. What is your preferred method of sharing documents? Thanks again, let's hope we can find a solution!

No problem on the delay. Whenever you find time, please send us the document using the menu Help > Send Feedback, or email it to us directly at:

The macro for counting all floating content did include them in the count. I sent the document to Nisus. I hope to post a solution or workaround later.
