Documentation Structure

The Nisus Writer Pro manual introduces you to the package and its many features. It reviews basic Macintosh operations and Nisus Writer Pro conventions, shows you how to install the package. In addition to a:

Table of Contents where each task you might want to accomplish with Nisus Writer Pro is listed, pages a-l. These subjects are hyperlinked to the page designated;

Index of subjects discussed, beginning on page 719;

Index of menu commands and screen messages beginning on page 733
if you encounter a command or a message you want to learn more about, this is a good place to start to learn more about it;

The document is organized as follows:

a short “Quick Start” section for those who do not read manuals. beginning on page 1;

a description of the Nisus Writer Pro working environment (windows, buttons, dialogs, toolbar, palettes, etc.), beginning on page 7;

step-by-step procedures that show you how to complete tasks professional writers frequently perform, beginning on page 35.

Appendices. These include:

▪︎ a description of each of the menu commands referred to from left to right and top to bottom (including submenus); this is a good place to start if you have a question about what a command accomplishes, beginning on page 657

▪︎ a glossary of useful terms beginning on page 705

▪︎ an explanation of how Nisus Writer Pro displays text on the screen (and instructions on how to enter certain unusual characters), beginning on page 709

▪︎ some historical background on the development of Nisus Writer Pro.

Because certain tasks require the interaction of a variety of aspects of the application, cross-references to additional information appear throughout the document. You can click the cross-reference text and/or page number to jump to that portion of the document.
